What we believe

  • We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.

  • We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.

  • We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, fully God, fully man. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal, visible return to earth.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, Who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher andGuide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.

  • We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice and, therefore, under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service, often subsequent to regeneration.

  • We believe in the universal church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the church: 1) baptism and 2) the Lord's Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion, and that communion is open to all believers.

  • We believe in the laying on of hands for the baptism of the Holy Spirit; for ordination of pastors, elders and deacons; and for receiving gifts of the Spirit and healing.

  • We believe in the personal, visible return of Christ to earth and the establishment of His Kingdom; in the resurrection of the body; the final judgment; and eternal blessing of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.

STATEMENT OF VISION

Calvary Chapel Christian Fellowship is an independent fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ, meeting for the worship of one true God.

We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the divisions of the Body of Christ.

We believe that the only true basis of Christian fellowship is the love, acceptance and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

Our goal is to model the simplicity of the early church, as described in Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer." Therefore:

We seek to faithfully teach and study the Word of God ("the apostles' teaching") which is the means to maturity, stability and fruitfulness in Christ.

We seek to encourage fellowship and support among members of the body, meeting and breaking bread together both as a fellowship and in homes.

We seek to develop the body's communication with their Lord through personal and corporate prayer.

In addition to the above:

We seek to equip, enable and encourage believers to employ their spiritual gifts and talents for the love, edification and unity of the body. "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12-13)

We seek to share the Good News of Christ's redemption to all men through the believer's outreach to the community, the nation and the world. "but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
